October & November

Scribble Reminder:  All November scribbles are due before Thanksgiving!  Voting day will be Monday, November 23rd so get them in as soon as you can!  December scribbles will be due before Christmas.  Donít wait!

Special Visitors:  On October 12th, we were lucky to have local artist, Jane Hart of Cavendish, visit the art classes.  She led all of the students in a simple two-part self-portrait project.  First, using card stock paper and markers all the students were asked to draw a picture of themselves. Second, they were to write and ìartistís statementî.  Jane suggested that they write something positive that no one knows about them.  All of these portraits and artist statements have been put together for viewing in a special book.  If you would like to see this, feel free to stop by the Arts Center! Thank you to Jane for volunteering her time for this special project.

On November 18th, another artist will be visiting the Arts Center.  Karen Utiger of Londonderry, VT, will be spending the afternoon with the 4th grade creating clay pots in the style and tradition of the Abenaki people.  Special thanks to the Green Mountain Festival Series Arts-in-Education Program for funding this artist with a grant.

Karen Utiger will also be returning on November 23rd to lead a clay project during Art Club.  Since the after school art club group is so large this year, we are looking for parent volunteers to help out with this project.  No experience necessary!  Please see Amy Jones if interested.  (rossamo1220@msn.com)
