| George Thomson, principal of CTES, is originally from upstate New York where he lived on a dairy farm for the first 18 years of his life. He attended Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York where he received his degree in biology. His Masters degree is from Fitchburg State College in Massachusetts. His first full time work was in a private school in Massachusetts where he taught learning disabled children. He remained there for 19 years and worked his way through the system to become the Headmaster of the school for 10 years. He moved to Vermont in 1989 with his family to assume the principalship of the Cavendish Town Elementary. He has a wanderlust for travel and has worked as a gardener on a ranch in Wyoming, as an interpreter for IBM in Berlin, Germany and as a tourist to many different countries around the world. Presently during the summer, he leads teacher groups from Vermont to Asia to study as a part of the Asian Studies OUtreach Program through UVM. As a result, students attending Cavendish learn about different cultures of Asia during their elementary school years. |

Irene Pearson went to Newbury Business School in Boston, Massachusetts. After graduation, she worked for New England Life Insurance Company in Boston, later returning to Vermont to work in the office at General Electric Company for eight years. Desiring more time with her children, she then worked part-time for the next 11 years at the Municipal Office in Ludlow. She returned to work full-time work at Cavendish Town Elementary School in 1992. Irene assists with the local Cub Scouts and yearbook, as well as the mentoring program.
