Library Classes
Students at Cavendish Town Elementary School have regularly scheduled library classes when they read and learn about quality literature and develop library skills appropriate to their grade level.

Student's Library Cards
All students need to have a library card on file, signed by a parent or guardian, in order to borrow books. When their card is on file, students may check-out books during library classes, plus whenever the library is open, including after school, Saturdays and vacations.

Library Book Check-Out Guidelines
Students in Kindergarten, the FanS Unit, and Grade three may borrow two books at a time, during school hours. Students in the Grades four through six may check out more as their responsibility grows.
Books are checked out for two weeks and may be renewed. Please help your child return library books on time! Overdue notices are sent home in Friday Folders several times during the school year. Any books that are not returned by the third notice may be billed to parents/guardians.

Library Services
School students and staff, as well as the townspeople of Cavendish have access to a variety of library services. These include a collection of over 9,000 books for children and adults, plus magazines, and audio tapes. Children and adults may request books, that are not in the collection, for free, through Interlibrary Loan. Four computers, for children and adults, are connected to the school network and may be used to access the Internet. A variety of CD-ROMs for all ages are available to use with these computers.

Library Hours
During the school year, including vacation periods, the library is open to all during the following hours: Monday through Saturday 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
